Brief

During my work at Barsha Technologies, one of my responsibilities was to design Fastwork - An app which allows you to find and call a handyman in minutes.

In Tunisia, there are no big enterprises that offer this service. So you need to ask a friend or search on facebook groups (this is what they use). Let's suppose that you got lucky and found a number, most of the time the handyman will be busy or out of service. Finally, you have no information about their work quality.

Fastwork solve each problem of those so users can submit demands in a few clicks, they can also schedule them. Moreover, they can give feedback about the handyman service and see others review.

Designing the logo and illustrations

Beside the UX/UI Design, I was charged to design the logo and the custom illustrations. I focused on three values:

  1. We are fast.
  2. We are happy to serve you.
  3. We do quality work.

Keeping it fast

Fastwork should be fast. This, was my main focus while respecting the core objectives. Once the user login, he can ask a handyman in few clicks.

The first method is to choose one of the services on the home screen then explain the problem

The second method is to explain your problem and let the handymen give you offers.

Adding some touches

To add a unique touch to the UI and enhance the accessibility I used some new concepts like the bottom app bar and some illustrations in the handyman profile

I learned that

  • Listening to our users is the key to a successful product. Users will come back once you solve their pain points.
  • The more freedom stakeholders give you to realize a product the more possibility is to be far of their expectations, be prepared to argue your choices.
  • It's okay to break the design systems as long as you truly know how they function
